Freshdesk allows you to customize the meta information of your solution articles. This enables you to optimize your knowledge base so that if your customers take to Google for answers, your articles will pop up on top of the list instead of some unreliable third party forum.

You could either fill out the Search Engine Optimization (SEO) information each time you write an article, or if you’ve already populated your knowledge base with articles, you could go through all of them at once and optimize your existing solutions. It is good practice to make filling out the SEO information a process. This allows you to achieve more organic traffic and helps in getting more engagement on your support portal.

Quick guide on SEO for solution articles

  • Go to the Solutions tab in your helpdesk.
  • Go to whichever solution article you’d like to optimize and click on Edit.
  • Scroll down to the bottom, where you’ll see a collapsed section called Meta tags for search engines. Click on it to expand it.
  • Here, you’ll be able to enter a Title Tag, a Meta Description and Meta Keywords.
  • The recommended best practices for each will be mentioned right under the text box.
  • Once you’re done filling it out, click on Save.
